• How to Install Internet Plug-In Viewer for Cyberdog 1.1
1. Drag the Internet Plug-In Viewer file to your Cyberdog Libraries folder in the Editors folder in your System Folder.
2. Drag the Internet Plug-In file to your OpenDoc Shell Plug-ins folder in your Editors folder in your System Folder.
3. Create a folder called Netscape Plug-ins in your Cyberdog Libraries folder in your Editor folder in your System Folder. This folder is where you place the plug-ins that you want to work in the Cyberdog web browser.
• Editor Setup for Plugin Part
Control Panels : Editor Setup
Select "Show All" button, find the "Kinds" below, then select the Kind and click on "Choose Editor", when dialog comes up, select "Internet Plug-in Viewer", and select OK.
Kind
Netscape Plugin
Other Movie
video/quicktime
Other Sampled Sound
audio/x-wav
audio/basic
audio/x-aiff
I have chosen all these because this is where the Internet Plug-in Viewer is appearing as available for selection. There may be additional "Kinds" that allow this selection. This will ensure that the plug-ins you encounter will be processed through the Internet Plug-in Viewer.
• Memory
You will need to increase the preferred memory size on the Cyberdog application to 2500 K in order to use plug-ins. Use get info to accomplish this.
Plugins that we know work:
1. Apple's Quicktime movies - These will either show up as embedded in the browser, or embedded in our Internet Plug-in part window, depending on the site. FastStart movies are working.
2. Apple's QuicktimeVR - These will either show up as embedded in the browser, or embedded in our Internet Plug-in part window, depending on the site.
3. Apple's Whurlplug (PPC Only) - Plays *.3DMF files
4. TotallyHip Sizzler - Most sprites work fine. There is one known "killer sprite"(it happens to be on the TotallyHip's home page) that will crash Cyberdog if Cyberdog's memory partition is set lower than 2500K.
5. Macromedia Shockwave Director 4 - These animation/movies are working, mouse and keyboard interaction are also working. Some sites also require a Netscape Navagator to display the movie.
6. Macromedia Shockwave Freehand - These interactive graphics are working.
7. Tumbleweed Envoy - Document Viewer
8. GEO Emblaze - animations
9. Yamaha MIDIPlug - MIDI player
10. MVP Talker - Speech synthesizer
11. Bill Tudor's Speech - Speech synthesizer
12. Bill Noon's ListenUp(PPC Only) - Speech synthesizer
13. Plastic Thought Web Active - 3D file viewer
14. mBED 1.0b2 - mpeg movie player, mBED 1.0b3 is not working with Cyberdog.
Plugins that are not working(or are partially working, these may cause nasty crashes):
1. Adobe Amber
2. RealAudio
3. Shockwave Authorware
4. FutureSplash
5. InterVu(mPEG)
6. ichat(IRC embedding)
7. Cresendo!
8. Maczilla
9. Sun TclPlug
• Known Incompatibilities/Problem Sites
Incompatibilities:
1. ViewMovie/ViewMovie XT - Prevents Quicktime movies from displaying. Should hide this or remove from Netscape Plug-ins folder.
2. MovieStar - Pre-empts Quicktime movies and plays them with reduced performance.
Sites:
1. http://www.totallyhip.com/ - crashes when you connect to this site. (increasing the memory of the Cyberdog application to 2,500 k or more wil help this )
